About

The Joppatowne Tigersharks swim program is sponsored by the Joppatowne Recreation Council under the auspices of the Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Members of our team include swimmers 5 to 18 years old, coaches and the parents of our swimmers.  Each of these groups plays an important part in the successful operation of our team.

Swimmers are expected to attend practices regularly and participate in scheduled swim meets (unless the coaches have been notified ahead of time).  They are also expected to follow the advice of the coaches and obey basic swimming pool rules at all times.

Coaches are expected to instruct our swimmers in methods to maintain safety in and around the pool.  They are also expected to assist the swimmers in the mechanics of their strokes and in the use of good sportsmanship at all times.

Parents are expected to provide the encouragement needed for our swimmers to attend the scheduled practices and swim meets and to support the Harford County Recreation Council’s policy not to tolerate abusive language or behavior by anyone involved in the program.  Since all swim meets and team functions operate strictly through volunteer support, all parents are expected to share in these responsibilities.
